Concept Art | Direct Selector

I created this for a PhotoshopCafe Design Challenge a video game cover concept based on a Photoshop tool, (the direct selection tool, one of my faves) inspired by the design of classic NES game cartridge artwork.

I dove deep into this one. Growing up, I loved looking at video game box art. I enjoyed how the old school Nintendo games had the same design layout. I was always perplexed at Atari box art as a child – super intricate artwork for a game made of blocks.

I used both Illustrator and Photoshop for this, and made use of CS6’s limited 3D capabilities.
